In an
effort to present diverse and engaging stories, the Heritage Harbour Computer Club is pleased to feature MAO's
LAST DANCER as our February movie. It is a marvelous and unusual film that
proves that true stories of the struggles of artists who must have freedom to
express themselves make excellent movies. And in this case, the story is true.
This
inspiring film is based on the autobiography of Li Cunxin, principal ballet
dancer who defected to the United
States in 1981. It includes the suspenseful
account of a 21-hour international incident when Li was held hostage in Houston's Chinese
consulate. This is an award winning movie from the autobiography by the same
name and adapted for the screen. It was directed by Bruce Beresford who
directed the award winning "Driving Miss Daisy." The story gradually
unfolds in both China and America and
will keep you in suspense until the end.
Be sure
to join us on Friday, February 8, to enjoy this very special film. Doors open at
6:30 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm. An added attraction is our delicious
free popcorn. Just be sure to bring your favorite beverage and you are ready
for a great evening of entertainment. As always, we appreciate your donation
towards our required license. See you at the movies!
